It was a casing in the kitchen that i made to house all the pipework and venting to my boiler.
For wall installations plywood is overkill beneath the concrete or fiber board which is designed in five eighths inch material for wall settings.

When installing over chipboard you need to install concrete board over the top of it before tile can be installed.
Water damages chipboard once chipboard gets wet it swells and falls apart which will lift your tiles.
Remove the tile and prepare the wall according to the corresponding instructions above or tile over the existing tile.
There s nothing at all you can do about chipboards hatred of water for this reason don t use chip in a wet room or any constantly wet area.
Newer green chipboard is used to help with this but still isn t perfect.
