Behavior diet habits. Their wings known as elytra are brownish black. There are nearly 200 species of carpet beetles in the subfamily attageninae. One variety of household pest that can fit the tiny black beetle description is the common carpet beetle.

These tiny carpet beetles start out their adult life as white beetles. The larvae grow to 7 mm 0 28 in in length are reddish brown in colour and covered with bristles. These tiny black beetle bugs belong to the family dermestidae and their larvae can be a true household pest. Others might be mottled with spots of brown and black on a lighter background.
